Evaluating Our Green Building

Seven years have passed since we moved into Villa Angela in Chatham, a LEEDS gold certified green building. Our building features many green innovations such as geothermal heating and cooling, grey water, solar energy, lighting efficiencies, green housekeeping policies and drought resistant native plants.
It is now time to asses the energy savings and the financial returns of these innovations.

With guidance from our maintenance consultant we were able to obtain a grant to hire a summer student . Our student is a graduate of Ursuline College and has completed her 3rd year at McMaster in Environmental Sciences. She will analyse all the features of our green building that were mentioned above. From that analysis she will produce educational materials that we will share with others interested.
These results will be posted on this blog in the future.
